Code of conduct at Oslo School of Burlesque

In order for Oslo School of Burlesque to be a pleasant and safe place for everyone to take courses at, we have set up some rules of conduct that everyone must follow.
​

 

Any form of violation of the code of conduct will not be tolerated and may result in expulsion from the course without a refund. Instructors are also expected to adhere to the code of coduct, and should any violations occur participants are encouraged to send an email to osloburlesque@hotmail.com to notify management.

  • Everyone who attends a course at Oslo School of Burlesque must treat and talk to other participants and instructors in a pleasant way, as well as contribute to the best of their ability to ensure that the course they attend is also a safe space for others to be in.
     

  • There is zero tolerance for racism, homophobia, sexism, fatphobia, talking down one's own body, etc.
     

  • Everyone must ask if they can take pictures/videos, and only share photos on social media if everyone featured in the photo has consented to sharing.
     

  • We respect that everyone has different backgrounds and boundaries.

The values of the school:
Oslo School of Burlesque will be a safe place for exploration, learning, creativity and self-expression.

Body Positivity and Inclusion:
The school places great emphasis on creating a space where all bodies are welcome. No matter their size, shape, gender or capacity, everyone is encouraged to participate and explore their own sensuality through burlesque.

Self-Expression and Creativity:
The Oslo School of Burlesque believes in the power of self-expression and creativity. Burlesque gives participants the opportunity to explore different sides of themselves through dance, sensuality, costumes and performing arts.

Community involvement and empowerment:
The school supports and encourages the use of burlesque as a platform to express opinions and engage in community debates. This can be through political satire, feminism, or other themes.

 

Respect and support:
The instructors and participants at the Oslo School of Burlesque show mutual respect and support. It is a community where everyone is encouraged to cheer each other on and help each other grow.

Joy and humor:
Burlesque is also about having fun! The school emphasizes creating a positive and humorous atmosphere where everyone can laugh and enjoy the process, whatever it may look like for anyone.

Promote History: 
Burlesque has an incredibly rich history, and here at Oslo School of Burlesque we want to promote knowledge about the amazing pioneers who came before us, who have made it possible for us to do burlesque in the present. We will therefore incorporate the learning of what, how and why burlesque is into our classes, for a deeper understanding of this beautiful art form.

Everyone is welcome to take courses at Oslo School of Burlesque, regardless of background, ethnicity, body shape, orientation, disability, gender expression or gender identity.

Terms of sale and Registration regulations at Oslo School of Burlesque

  • 1. Introduction:
    Welcome to the Oslo School of Burlesque.
    By enrolling in our courses, you agree to the following terms and conditions:
     

  • 2. Enrollment and Payment:
    All course fees must be paid in full, before gaining entrance to the course.
    Enrolled participants will recieve an invoice stating the proper payment information, which will be made via bank transfer.
    Enrollment is confirmed only by welcome-email and invoice sent out by the school, and with receipt of full payment.

     

  • 3. Cancellation and Refunds:
    Cancellations made more than 21 days before the course start date are eligeble to a 50% refund.
    Cancellations due to illness made within 14 days of the course start date are eligeble to a 50% refund with provided medical documents.

    When purchasing dance courses, the Right of Withdrawal Act does not apply as it does when purchasing goods. Registration is binding unless otherwise agreed. Chapter 6 §22 (m) of the Right of Withdrawal Act lists exceptions to the right of withdrawal when purchasing/ordering certain goods and services: "Provision of accommodation services for purposes other than residential purposes, transport of goods, car rental services, catering and services related to leisure activities when the contract stipulates a specific date or period of time for the performance of such services".
     

  • 4. Course Changes and Cancellations by Oslo School of Burlesque:
    We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule courses due to unforeseen circumstances.
    Should the main instructor be prevented from leading the course, for example in the event of illness or other unforeseen events, a qualified substitute will be hired to maintain the continuity of teaching. We make sure that the substitute is well acquainted with the course content and has the right expertise, so that the goals of the courseplan is followed. Should this not be possible to acheive, then the class will be offered at another date within reasonable time.
    In the event of a course cancellation by us, enrolled participants will receive a full refund or the option to transfer to another course.

     

  • 5. Code of Conduct:
    Participants are expected to behave respectfully towards instructors and fellow students and adhere to the schools code of conduct.
    Any form of harassment or disruptive behavior will not be tolerated and may result in expulsion from the course without a refund.

     

  • 6. Liability:
    Oslo School of Burlesque is not responsible for any personal injury or loss of property during the course.
    Participants are advised to have their own insurance coverage.

     

  • 7. Intellectual Property:
    All course materials provided are for personal use during class only and may not be reproduced or distributed without permission.

     

  • 8. Privacy Policy:
    Personal information collected during enrollment will be used solely for course administration and will not be shared with third parties.
